GREENVILLE, VA…

Marvin Leonard Myrtle, 92, husband of Iva Lotts Doyle Myrtle, died Sunday, June 12, 2016 at Augusta Health.

He was born October 5, 1923 in Augusta County, a son of the late Thomas and Sarah (Cullen) Myrtle.

Mr. Myrtle was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Prior to retirement, he was employed by Maryland Sanitation Commission as an engineer.

Marvin was a member of Good Shepherd Episcopal Church and the Staunton Masonic Lodge #13. He also loved country music.

In addition to his wife of 50 years, family members include a step-son, Harold Steven Doyle; a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy Myrtle and Frank Besier of Virginia Beach; three grandchildren, Troy Cox and wife, Becky, Rebecca Myrtle Razul and husband, Tony, and Nicholas Myrtle; two great grandchildren, Bodhi Cox and Brittany Morgan and husband, Josh; two great, great grandchildren, Mylie and Kayleigh Morgan; two nieces, Faye Coffman and Sarah Brumfield; a nephew, Thomas Myrtle; and a number of other nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son, Leonard Myrtle; a sister, Kathleen Myrtle Chandler; and four brothers, Frank, Ray, Jesse and Burl Myrtle.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, June 17, 2016 in Pines Chapel Cemetery by the Rev. David Elphee.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 16, 2016 in the Henry Funeral Home.
