Matthew, 54, of Elsie, MI passed away Sunday, June 12, 2016 at Owosso Memorial Healthcare.

Funeral Service was held at Duplain Church of Christ, St. Johns on Thursday, June 16 with Chuck Emmert and Dan Cameron officiating. Burial was at Maple Cemetery, Grand Blanc on Friday, June 17.

Matt was born September 13, 1961, in Genesee County to Henry and Anita (Dentel) Airgood. He married Peggy Nutt on December 27, 1991, in Caro, MI.

Matt graduated from Caro High School. He enjoyed his college years at Ferris State University and received his Master’s Degree in Education Administration from Central Michigan University.

Matt was Teacher and Principal at Unionville-Sebewaing Elementary School for several years. He went on to become Principal at Ovid-Elsie Elementary Schools (North, Leonard and E.E. Knight Elementary Schools) where he retired in 2011. Matt loved and was proud of all of his students. He encouraged them to do their very best.

Matt was also a member of Duplain Church of Christ where he was an elder. He was a member of the Elsie Lions Club. He also was a Big Brother through the Big Brother Big Sisters Organization.

Matt enjoyed reading, card games with friends, swimming, boating, mowing other’s lawns and singing in The Band of Sheep. He especially loved spending time with his family, friends and his dog Kip. He was very active in his community and enjoyed encouraging people in their walk with Christ.

His wife, Peggy, survived him. He was survived by his siblings; Mark Airgood (Oakland, CA), Mariann Airgood (Ann Arbor, MI) and Ellen Airgood and Rick Guth (Grand Marias, MI). He was also survived by in-laws; Gail Parker (Southfield, MI) and Bill and Michele Nutt (Carrollton, TX). Nieces and nephews; Christopher, Nicole, Brandon, Lindsey and Porter Nutt-also survived him.
