Andrea Cordine Gills was born on December 9, 1951, the eldest child of Emmett and Bernice Gills. After graduating a year early from Evan E. Worthing High School, Andrea went on to court reporting school. Once she graduated she moved to Chicago, Illinois and worked as an official licensed court reporter. Andrea grew tired of the snow and wind in Chicago, and moved back to Houston where she worked as a clerk-stenographer for Southern Pacific Railroad, and then a court reporter for Harris County Criminal Court System. In total, her career lasted over 35 years.

Andrea met Donald Scott in the early 1980s, and they were wed at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church on July 30, 1983. They began a family and raised their children in the Catholic faith.

Andrea enjoyed motherhood and serving her church. She proudly served as a Lector, Extra-Ordinary Minister of Holy Communion, and Sacristan first at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, then at the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart.

Andrea is preceded in death by her parents, Emmett and Bernice, and daughter, Sharita Donell Scott. She is survived in life, love and faith by husband Donald and daughters Katrena and Kristen.
