Eula Mae Abernathy, 90, passed away Sunday, June 12, 2016, in her home after a lengthy illness. Funeral: 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in Mount Olivet Chapel. Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery. Mae was born Dec. 8, 1925, in Princeton, the daughter of Samuel and Drusy Stephenson. After growing up, she moved to Dallas County and while in Dallas, she met her future husband, Jack Norris Abernathy. Mae and Jack were married in May of 1942. They had a son, Jack Ronnie Abernathy, in 1945, who preceded her in death in 2003. Mae was a wonderful artist, was very active in her church community, a great friend to many and when she could, she enjoyed traveling and camping with her husband all over America, including a trip to Alaska. Mae was a loving mother, grandmother and sister, and will be dearly missed. Survivors: Her husband of 74 years, Jack Abernathy; grandchildren, Herbert Abernathy, Donald Abernathy, Margret Jackson and Angela Miller; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; multiple nieces, nephews and cousins; and sister, Barbara Thomas Pine.
