JOSEPH KNOWLES (not Noles) Never lived in ALABAMA, despite recent FALSE ACCUSATIONS! Furthermore census records clearly show him with his parents and siblings all born in Bladen, North Carolina, NOT GEORGIA.

In September 1879 Sanford Gibbs and Lee Abercumbie sold and conveyed a tract of land to school trustees of Midway for a school and church.
Those Trustees were: J. S. Beauchamp, J. E. Knowles, and J. P. Dubose.
Located on the same land purchased by the school trustees is the Midway Cemetery.
The land had obviously been used for burials prior to 1879.

On July 7th 1963 A survey of Midway Cemetery was performed by: Mrs. Homar Knott's and Mrs. H. J. Carroll with the aid of Mr. Bradley Knowles(Grandson of J. E. Knowles Trustee). At that time 134 marked graves were recorded.

Joseph and Mary had 9 children together before her death in 1862.
Another 5 children where born with his second wife Emma.
Brother: George Washington Knowles (FAG 194922756)
Sister: Mary Ann "Caroline" Thompson (FAG 93973581)
Daughter: Emily Esther Knowles McMahon (FAG 122987899)
Joseph is the Grandson of George and Esther Knowles, Bladen, North Carolina.
