Mrs. Mamie Evans, 64, wife of C. M. W. Evans, died at 5:30 a.m. Saturday at her home at 701 E. Texas Avenue.
Born June 1, 1879 in Jackson County, Ala., she moved to Texas when a child and had lived in Nolan County since 1915. She had been a member of the Nolan Baptist Church for 27 years.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete, pending arrival of children.
Survivors are eight children: Elbert Holcomb of Fort Worth, Ennis Brown of Norman, Okla., Elmer Holcomb of Sweetwater, Mrs. Emma Richards of Hermleigh; Mrs. Lily Tanksley of Arkansas, Mrs. Lorena Ware of Sweetwater, Pvt. D. W. Evans and Pvt. B. Q. Evans of North Africa.
The service men have been notified through the National Home Service of the Red Cross of their mother's serious illness and death.
Other survivors are three nieces, Mrs. Lizzie McCaulley of Abilene, Mrs. Thelma Caves of Divide and Mrs. Imogene Crawford of Baird; 36 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; five sisters and a brother.
