Anna “Christine” (Anderson) Sanders was born April 3, 1922 in Hamilton County, Texas to Albert and Muriel (Curry) Anderson. She graduated from Sterling High School in 1940. She married Ray Nunley on July 20, 1940 and the two were blessed with 5 children. She worked as a cook at Denton School, owned and operated a café in Sterling, at Jeffery’s Grocery Store. Christine worked on Ft. Sill as a civil servant until retirement. She married Glen Sanders on November 22, 1974 and the two were married for 40 years when he passed away in 2015. After retirement, she volunteered for over 27 years at Southwestern Medical Center. Christine and Glen loved to travel by car, motorcycle or in their motorhome. She enjoyed going to ballgames, stock shows, and rodeos and working in her yard. It didn’t matter where she was going as long as she got to go! Of all the things she enjoyed, being with her family was her favorite. Christine was a member of the Red Hat Society and also a member of the Elgin First Baptist Church for over 40 years where she was active as a GA’s teacher, Sunday School teacher, and part of the WMU’s.
She is survived by her five children: Barbara Anderson of Marlow, Joann Iverson of Marlow, Jackie Nunley and wife Virginia of Sterling, Kathy Middleton of Marlow, and RaDonna Wint and husband David of Bedford, TX; two step daughters: Glenda French of Oklahoma City and Fawnda Charlton of Arlington, TX; nine grandchildren: Beverley Spessard and husband Ronnie of Sterling, Jerry Wilkerson and wife Wendy of Marlow, Greg Schettler and wife Dawna of Sterling, Jimmy Wilkerson of Marlow, Tammy Williams and husband Greg of Cedar Hill, TX, Jeff Wilkerson and wife Brenda of Edmond, Shawn Nunley and wife Darla of Sterling, Katie Burk and husband Shane of Elgin, and Bill Bryan Middleton of Sterling; five step grandchildren: Rob Iverson of Duncan, Danya Pichard and husband Danny of Harrah, Heidi Everett and husband Jeff of Yukon, Shannon Gondola of Arlington, TX and Holley Mathiesen of Mansfield, TX; twenty two great grandchildren; ten great-great grandchildren; one sister, Jo Pierce, of Marlow; many nieces and nephews, plus great nieces and nephews and many, many friends of all ages.
