Alois J. Kraus, 85, of 622 Rockway Place, Mishicot, died Friday afternoon, October 10, 1986 at North Ridge Care Center, Manitowoc, where he resided for the past week. Funeral services will be 10:30 am Monday at Lambert Funeral Home and 11 am at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Mishicot. Msgr. James Feely will officiate with burial to follow at the parish cemetery.
Mr. Kraus was born December 20, 1900 at Two Creeks, son of the late John and Anna Johanek Kraus. He married the former Pauline Benesch on November 5, 1929 at St. Mary Catholic church, Tisch Mills. She preceded him in death in 1968. Mr. Kraus attended District School of Two Creeks and the University of Wisconsin, Agriculture School. He owned and operated a dairy farm in the Town of Two Creeks, retiring in 1966 and then moving to Mishicot. Mr. Kraus was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, Holy Name Society, Knights of Columbus Council 4807, Mishicot Senior Citizens and a member of Manitowoc Musicians Union. Mr. Kraus had his own band, known as the Al Kraus Orchestra for many years. Mr. Kraus was a former director of the Brookside Dairy of Two Creeks, former Town Assessor for the Town of Two Creeks, former School Board member of Twin Elder School and a former member of the Mishicot Village Board.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, George and Joan Krause Sr., of Mishicot and James A. and Mary Ann Krause of Sheboygan; two daughters and a son-in-law, Carol and James Koeppel of route 1, Two Rivers and Marion Krause of Mishicot; a brother, Edward Krause of Manitowoc; a sister, Mrs. Caroline Feuerstein of Phoenix, Arizona; 20 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by his wife and a grandson.
Friends may call at Lambert Funeral Home, Mishicot, after 3 pm Sunday. A parish memorial service combined with Knights of Columbus Rosary will be held at 6 pm.
