Patsy Lee Provence Stevenson, 80, of Corsicana, passed away June 11, 2016. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m., Tuesday, June 14, 2016, in the Chapel at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home with visitation following the service. She will be laid to rest in Oakwood Cemetery next to her husband.

Patsy was born in Archer City, Texas, to the late Charles Dewey and Martha Jane Rhinehart Provence. Patsy grew up in Holliday, Texas, and was the oldest of six children. She cherished those days and passed many of those memories on to her children who cherish them as well. She worked at Woolworth’s in Wichita Falls and met Walter Stevenson who was an Airman stationed at Sheppard Air Force Base. They married in 1952.

Patsy and Walter moved to Purdon, Texas, in 1967 and raised their six children there. Her children attended school in Dawson, Texas. Patsy worked as a certified unit secretary at Navarro Regional Hospital for 17 years.

Patsy was a strong woman who was fiercely loyal to those she loved. She sacrificed so much in life for her children and made sure they were well loved, well fed, and had a strong foundation of home and family. She gave her children an appreciation for knowledge, fairness, and understanding. Her children love and honor her amazing influence on their lives as well as the lives of others. They give thanks to God for blessing them with such a wonderful mother.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Stevenson II; her sister, Pauline Bennett; and grandsons, Joel Brown and Jared Cook.

Patsy is survived by her sons, Darrell Stevenson and wife, Marty, and Walter Stevenson III; daughters: Eldora Stevenson, Lenora Brown and husband, Joey, Donna Fathman and husband, James, and Laurie Sanders and husband, Steve; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Peggy Walston and Patricia Giles; brothers, Paul Provence and Perry Provence; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
