Philip Corman, 19, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Corman of Oak, drowned Sunday, while swimming in Lovewell Lake, south of Superior.

Philip and six other companions, Dennis and Charlie Dillon, Jim Linn, Kathy Ahrens, Phyllis Clabaugh, all of Superior and Jerry Hesket of Burr Oak, Kans. had rented a Pontoon boat at the Lovewell Marina, and while out on the Lake some of the boys decided to take a little swim. When it was noticed that Philip needed help, it was impossible to start the motor on the boat to reach him quickly and Jim Linn swam to try to rescue him, but was unable to do so. The rescue squad from Superior was summoned immediatley and later Scuba divers arrived to join in the search, but the body was not recovered until about 10:30 Monday a.m. Weather conditions of heavy rain, thunder and lightning hampered the search in the early morning hours.

Funeral services are being held today, Thursday, in the Oak Community church, with Pastor W.H. Bauer officiating.

Klawitter Funeral home in charge of arrangements. Interment will be in the Nelson Cemetery.

Through the service of the Red Cross, and (sic) older brother, Steven (sic) Corman, who is stationed in Germany, was flown home to attend his brother's funeral.
