Rachel Crutchfield Perry left for the heavenly home on Monday, August 24, 2015, surrounded by her family in her home, as she desired. She was born on Christmas Eve, 1928 in Chatham County to the late John Clyde and Vallie Cook Crutchfield. She is preceded in death by her brothers, Levotis, Talton, June, and Everette; and sisters, Lillian, Mildred, Ruth, and Polly.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, August 26, 2015. A graveside celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 27, 2015 at Fairview Cemetery in Liberty, North Carolina.

Rachel was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church of Liberty and a former member of the Women's Circle and volunteer with the community Bargain Box. Rachel loved bluegrass music, a loved she shared with special friends/bluegrass musicians, the Jobes at Mebane.
Family was always central in her life. She was our "glue". Her talents as a seamstress quilter, crafter, and baker were exemplified by the many quilts, wall-hangings, hand painted Christmas cards and baked goods she so lovingly made for her family. Caramel and coconut cakes, persimmon pudding and especially her sourdough rolls were much anticipated holiday treats. Each member of the family could always expect a Happy Birthday song sang over the telephone. We'll always miss that sweet voice.
