He was born on June 10, 1934, in Fond du Lac, a son of Emmet L. and Gertrude Cleveland Freiberg. Eugene was a graduate of Fond du Lac Senior High School, Class of 1952.
Eugene served with the United States Army.
On June 5, 1969, he married Ruth L. Martin.
Eugene was a salesman for Art Freiberg and Bob Jackson, and later opened Freiberg Real Estate. He was a past member of the Elks Lodge #57 and Eagles Aerie #270. He enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, motorcycle riding, reading the newspaper, and his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth; a son, Michael (Traci) Freiberg of Fond du Lac; two grandchildren: Emily and Paige; two brothers: William (Joann) Freiberg of Oshkosh and Roger Freiberg of Fond du Lac; two sisters; Doris Werner of Brooklyn, Michigan and Jane Smet of Rosholt; a brother-in-law, Elmer Fox of Fond du Lac; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters: Ruth Fox and Myrtle Trott; and a brother-in-law, James Smet.
VISITATION: The family will receive relatives and friends from 9:00 -11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 17, 2016, at St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church, 1600 South Main Street, Fond du Lac.
SERVICE: A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church with Rev. Matthew Guse officiating.
Inurnment will be in Estabrooks Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Trier-Puddy Post 75.
