He was born on May 27, 1929, in Enid, Okla., to Oliver and Bernice Patten. Mr. Patten was a resident of Freeport for the past 10 years. He was Assembly of God by faith. He worked as a carpet installer for more than 20 years, owning and operating his own business. He enjoyed working around his home; he was known as a family man.
Mr. Patten was preceded in death by his father and mother; three brothers; five sisters; one grandson, Shawn Patten; and one son, Ronald Patten.
Mr. Patten is survived by his wife, Joyce B. Patten of Freeport; one son, Jon A. Patten and wife Jo Anna of Freeport; one daughter-in-law, Linda Patten of Everett, Wash.; one brother, Danny Patten of Massachusetts; one sister, Be Etta Jo Briggs of Freeport; five grandchildren, Misty, Kristy, Chris, Matthew and Jessica; and 11 great- grandchildren.
A time of visitation will be held from 3 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Clary-Glenn Freeport Chapel Funeral Home in Freeport. Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Saturday at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home with the Rev. Daryl Moon officiating and eulogy by grandson, Matthew Patten.
Floral arrangements are being accepted.
Burial will follow in Hatcher Cemetery.
