J Edward "Jake" Rogers was born January 12, 1926 in Brookline, Missouri to Omer Leo Rogers and Gertha Pope Rogers and passed away on June 10, 2016 in Clever, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and one sister. He served in the US Navy aboard the USS Casablanca during WWII from 1943-1945, achieving the rank of Seaman 1st Class. He was a 50+ year Mason (most recently a member of the Billings Masonic Lodge) and a member of the Scottish Rite. He had several careers, including working for General Motors and owning his own upholstery shop in Kansas City. In 1965 he and his family moved back to Clever, where he fulfilled a dream of having his own small farm, on which he was still working as able until his death. He enjoyed working for Springfield R-12 Public Schools for 17 years. He also enjoyed his cattle, putting up hay, spending time with his family, and visiting with friends and neighbors at any opportunity.
He married Virginia Mae Maples on October 16, 1947 in Ozark, Missouri. She survives him, along with their children Donna (Jay) Robinson, Vicki (Jim) Hancock, Nancy (Tony) Geren, Tim (Christi) Rogers, and Jennifer (Michael) Bartkoski. He is also survived by ten grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, one sister, Emma Jean Jackson.
Interment at Union Ridge Cemetery with military honors.
