GARLAND, TX.: Bruce Armstrong, 84, formerly of Lexington, Ohio died Friday, May 13, 2016 at the home of his daughter Kimberly (Kirk) Pearson where he and his wife, Irma, had lived since relocating to Garland, TX in 2007.Bruce was born in Mansfield, Ohio on June 9, 1931 to Ray and Irene Armstrong. He married Irma Czeskleba on May 19, 1951 having celebrated 62 years of marriage at the time of her passing on January 16, 2014. Bruce and Irma were residents of Lexington from 1963-2007.Bruce graduated from Madison High School in 1950 and joined the United States Army. He served as a PFC in the 10th Infantry Division Company M 86th Infantry in Fort Riley, Kansas. He was promoted to Corporal as a member of the Support Company of the 325 Airborne Infantry Regiment 82nd Division. After settling in Lexington, Bruce worked for the Montgomery Ward Company, Byrd Ambulance Service and as a Deputy for The Richland County Sheriff's Department from which he retired in 2001. He is survived by his daughter, Melanie Armstrong of Dallas, TX and daughter and son-in-law Kimberly and Kirk Pearson of Garland, TX. He was proceeded in death by his wife Irma, his parents, his brothers Donald and Walter and his sister Margaret.To offer a condolence or to share a memory with the family, you may write to them at 6005 Waterway Drive, Garland, TX 75043.
