Della Elizabeth Pierce passed away on July 23, 1998. Services were on Tuesday, July 28, 1998 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Pleasantville, Iowa. Rev. Marge Bradshaw officiated. Music was performed by Larry Conn, Organist Congregation singing: “He Touched Me”, “How Great Thou Art”. Memorial was set for St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. Interment was in The Lone Tree Cemetery Lone Tree, Iowa. Pallbearers were Chuck Ellis, Bruce Hecke, Loren Krichau, Jim Milner, Jack Plagge and Larry Thompson.

Della Elizabeth Pierce was born on December 29, 1913 in Lone Tree, Iowa the daughter of Harry and Gladyce Buell.

She was raised in the Lone Tree area and attended school there. After high school she attended Iowa State University graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in 1935. She taught Home Economics for many years in Lone Tree, Cedar Rapids, and Harlan. Della received her Master’s Degree from Iowa State in 1951. On August 22, 1954 she was united in marriage to Orval “Tex” Pierce in Lone Tree. The couple moved to Pleasantville in 1960, and have always made their home here. Della taught in the Pleasantville School System, retiring in 1977. She enjoyed yard work and being an Eastern Star. She played the piano for many different organizations, including Eastern Star, the Kitchen Band, and Pleasant Care Nursing Home. Most of all she cherished the time spent with her husband, Tex, and will be remembered as a loving wife and caring friend. She was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Order of Eastern Star, and the Pleasantville Kitchen Band.

Della Passed away Thursday, July 23, 1998 at the Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines at the age of 84 years. She was preceeded in death by her parents, brother, Harris Buell, and sister, Louise Werts. Those left to honor her memory include her loving husband o f 44 years, Tex, and many other beloved family members and friends.
