Adeline E. Kobes, age 89, of 1372 Kellner Street, Manitowoc, was
called to her eternal home on Monday, Jan 30, 2006, at Holy Family
Memorial Medical Center in Manitowoc.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2006, at
Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2426 N. Rapids Road in Manitowoc,
with the Rev. Tom Pankow officiating, with burial to follow in the
Mishicot Public Cemetery.
Adeline was born July 14, 1916, in the town of Mishicot to the late
Ira and Mary Gesser Assmann. She was baptized and confirmed by the
late Rev. Edward Zell at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in
Mishicot, where she was a 60-year member. Adeline was an eighth-grade
graduate of the Pleasant View School in rural Mishicot. She was
employed at the Aluminum Goods Plant 4 in Two Rivers from 1934 until
her marriage to John J. Kobes on Nov. 20, 1940, at St. Peter's
Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mishicot, by the late Rev. Edward Zell.
The couple farmed in the town of Mishicot until 1976, when they moved
to the city of Manitowoc. During her marriage, she also worked at the
Metal Ware Corporation of Two Rivers for a number of years. She enjoyed
spending time with her family, gardening and playing cards, especially
sheepshead.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by one sister;
Alice Assmann; one brother; Florian Assmann; a daughter-in-law; Bonnie Kobes;
brothers-in-law; Thomas and Frank Kobes, and Herbert Erdman; and by her
sisters-in-law; Ann Kriesa, Cora Kobes and Toni Kobes.
Relatives and friends may call at noon on Saturday at Grace Evangelical
Lutheran Church 2426 N. Rapids Road in Manitowoc, until the time of service
at 2 p.m. There will be no Friday evening visitation. A memorial fund has
been established in her name. The Lambert-Eckert Funeral Home of Mishicot
is assisting the Kobes family with funeral arrangements.

She is also survived by her step-grandchildren: Michelle, Russell, and Brenda (Paul); and by her step-great-grandchildren: Christopher, Tabitha, Joshua, Ashley, and Hannah; her two brothers: Ralph and Alfred Assmann, both of Mishicot; a sister-in-law: Jean Assmann of Elm Grove; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Mary Erdman, Edward Kobes, Joseph (Alice) Kobes, George (Verna) Kobes, James (Dorothy) Kobes, and numerous nieces and nephews.
