Rea Mae Janes, 82, of Portland passed away Friday, June 10, 2016 from a massive stroke. She was born on July 10, 1933 in St. Helens to Vivian and Lela Johnson. With a diploma from St. Helens High School, a Bachelor’s Degree from Lewis & Clark College and a Master’s Degree from the University of Portland, Rea spent 35 years as a classroom teacher, counselor and Elementary principal in the St. Helens and David Douglas School Districts. Rea married Dick Janes on June 28, 1953 and gave birth to two sons Marcus in 1958 and Matthew in 1960.
