Passed away peacefully at Compassionate Care Hospice on Sunday, June 5, 2016.

Born in England, Brian was the son of the late Denis and Doris Mabel (Rayner) Black. He served his country proudly in the US Air Force during the Korean War. He worked for Artcraft and Tecot, retiring in the Billing and Purchasing Departments. Brian and Carol were animal lovers and were longtime members of the Coast Guard. Brian loved his working in the yard and was fond of riding his tractor. But he especially loved his wife, Carol. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Terry and Mike Black and his sister, Patty Sullivan

Brian will be dearly missed by his wife of 60 years, Carol (Smith) Black; two sons, Robbie Black of Wilmington and Tom Black and his wife Holly of Laurel, DE; a grandson, Logan Black; a sister-in-law, Dottie Black; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends and family are invited to visitation on Wednesday, June 15th after 11:30 AM at Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Road, Wilmington where funeral services will begin at 12:30 PM. Burial will follow at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, DE.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Helen Graham Cancer Center, 4701 Ogletown Stanton Road, Newark, DE 19713.
