Ruth J. Simpkins

Ruth J. Simpkins, 85, of North First Street, Crisfield, died Thursday, Dec. 19, 1996, at McCready Memorial Hospital of heart failure.

Born in Crisfield she was a daughter of the late Oscar Samuel Justice and Maude Sterling Justice.

She was a retired clerk at Carey's Confectionery in Crisfield. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Crisfield.

She is survived by a son, M. Jerry Purnell; a sister, Elsie Hawkins; a grandson, all of Crisfield; a granddaughter, and two great-granddaughters. A granddaughter, Geri L. Purnell, died in 1994.

A funeral service was held Saturday, at Bradshaw and Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield. The Rev. Jonas Taylor officiated. Due to water levels interment will be at a later date at Asbury Cemetery.

Contributions may be made in memory of the deceased to the Lower Somerset County Ambulance and Rescue Squad Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 406, Crisfield, Md. 21817.
