Suggested edit: Mr. Billy C. Long, resident of Forrest City, Arkansas, departed this life on Monday, May 18, 2020, in the comfort of his home at the age of 81. Billy was born in Forrest City on Wednesday, August 10, 1938, the son of Mr. William Alvin Long and Mrs. Orene (Pellam) Long.

Billy was a graduate of Forrest City High School, and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. Billy proudly served his country for nine years; he served in Vietnam and was awarded a Good Conduct Medal and a Rifle Expert Badge. After he was discharged at Camp Pendleton in 1964, Billy continued his residence in California until 1979 when he returned home to Forrest City. Upon his arrival home, Billy attended barber school, and worked as a barber at Brady’s Barber Shop in Forrest City for 40 years. He and Betty “Sis” (Taylor) Long were united in marriage on July 3, 1994. Billy was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church, and was involved in the American Legion Post #4 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2869, both in Forrest City. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and deer hunting.

Mr. Long was preceded in death by his parents, William and Orene Long.

He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Betty “Sis” Long of the home; two sons, Brian Long and Mark Long, both of California; a daughter, Stephanie Long of California; a stepson, Stanley Spencer of Memphis; two sisters, Patricia Ann Ivy and Deborah Woodyard, both of Russellville; a nephew, Jim Ivy; a niece, Dawne Jarrett; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 21, 2020, in Forrest Park Cemetery in Forrest City with Mr. Eddie Adamson officiating.

Honorary pallbearers are Steve Lindsey, John Laws, Grayson Gorman, Ronnie Jarrett, Wayne McFall, Charles Bokker, Denny Jarrett, Roy Jackson, Norvel Casey, and Clay Fletcher.
