James A. Grace Meets Death As Truck Overturns

Funeral Services Held This Afternoon For Jackson Salesman

James Arthur Grace, 45, salesman for the Nehi Bottling Company here the past 11 years, was killed almost instantly yesterday afternoon at 3 o'clock when a truck in which he was riding overturned on the Nashville Highway about four miles from Jackson.

Exact cause of the accident was not determined. However, the truck, driven by Mr. Grace's son, was said to have run off the pavement and overturned when Mr. Grace attempted to pull it back upon the road, causing it to swerve sharply.

His son suffered only from bruises and shock but was confined to his home today.

Mr. Grace, born and reared in Fullbright, Texas, lived in Jackson the past 34 years, residing at 356 E. Preston. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church and was a veteran of the first World War.

Surviving are his father, G. A. Grace; wife, Mrs. Katherine Kirkland Grace; three sons, Joe Arthur, Lavon, and Noble Grace; three daughters, Mrs. Gaston Collins, Misses Joan and Ramelle Grace-all of Jackson; five brothers, Bill Grace of Flint, Mich., and Ivan Grace of Humboldt, John I., Wesley and Leslie Grace, all of Jackson one sister, Mrs. Virgil Todd Of Jackson; and one grandson. Gaston Wayne Collins, also of Jackson.

Funeral services will be held this afternoon at 5 o'clock at Calvary Baptist Church by the Rev. R. C. Goldsmith and the Rev. W. A. West. Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers: Frank. Dail, Tommie Riddle, Wade Dixon, Clint Replogle, Forest Bush and Rufe Waller.

Former Resident of Paris Killed In Wreck Near Jackson

James Arthur Grace, 45, of Jackson, salesman for the Nehi Bottling Company and a former resident of Paris, was killed almost instantly Monday afternoon at 3 o'clock when a truck in which he was riding overturned on the Nashville highway about four miles from Jackson.

Mr. Grace had been employed by the bottling firm for the past eleven years, and before that had worked on a highway construction job in Paris. Mrs. Katherine Kirkland Grace, his wife is a native of this county and was formerly a telephone operator here.

Besides his wife he is survived by his father, G. A. Grace; three sons, Joe Arthur, Lavon and Noble Grace, three daughters, Misses Joan and Ramelle Grace, and Mrs. Gaston Collins, all of Jackson; five brothers, Bill Grace of Flint, Mich., Ivan Grace of Humboldt; John I., Wesley and Leslie Grace, all of Jackson; one sister, Mrs. Virgil Todd, of Jackson.

Funeral services were held in Jackson Tuesday. Among those from here attending the funeral were: Mrs. J. S. Kirkland, mother of Mrs. Grace; Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Richardson and family; Mrs. E. P. McFadden and daughter, Carolyn; Mrs. Oma Call and Mrs. Fred Miller.
