Laura A. Skelton died on November 29 at the Community Hospital in Bonners Ferry. She was 83.
Services were held on Tuesday, December 2, 1980 at the Jensen-Malone Funeral Chapel. Burial was held at the Granview Cemetery.
Laura A. Skelton was born to Nettie and Almon Mathews on October 31, 1897 in Conneaut, Ohio. She attended schools in Denton, Montana, after which she married George Skelton on July 10, 1917 in Coffee Creek, Montana.
They came to Boundary County by covered wagon in 1921, where they lived north of Moyie Springs. She moved to Bonners Ferry in 1956 after George's death and she resided in Bonners Ferry until her death, living the last six months in the Community Restorium. She enjoyed flowers, gardening and crocheting. She also loved her work with her church.
Laura is survived by: one son, Harold Skelton of Dorena, Ore.; one sister, Pearl Metrovich of Stanford, Mont.; two grandchildren, Tim Skelton and Susie Maury both of Dorena, Ore.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, George, and one sister, Martha Morice.
