Anton Bauer was born January 22, 1907, in a sod house west of Kenmare, the son of John and Mary Bauer. He attended country school and St. Agnes school through the sixth grade, and then stayed home to help his family.

On September 22, 1931 he married Mary Ellen Homiston Fahje, at Bowbells, North Dakota. Following their marriage, they farmed in the Coulee, Kenmare and Norma area. In 1941, they purchased the Homiston farm at Bowbells. In 1947 they moved into Kenmare, but he continued to farm until his retirement in 1971. Mary Ellen died on July 20, 1985.

He married Anne Benest on June 18, 1988, in Minot, ND. They lived in Kenmare, and Anne preceded him in Death April 17, 1991.

He was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, and the Kenmare Senior Citizens, both Kenmare, ND. Tony loved to play pool and play cards, and he loved horses.

Those Most Honored to Share in His Life Are: Son, George Bauer and his wife Violet, Kenmare; daughters, Alyce Huber and her husband Gerald, and Mary Ann Seitz and her husband Larry, all Great Falls, MT; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; stepdaughters, Linda Homeier, Edinburg, IL, Leanne LaClair, Sioux City, IA, Jane Hammer, Minot, ND, and Kim Wilson, Chatham, IL; eight step-grandchildren; 11 step-great-grandchildren; brother, Nick Bauer, Bozeman, MT; sisters, Helena Caroline, Kenmare, ND, Regina Ebenel, Sunnyside, WA, and Loretta Cunningham, Seattle, WA; numerous nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Bauer; wives, Mary Ellen and Anne; brothers, Wendel, Mike, Alphonse, Albert, and Leonard Bauer; sister, Marie Ames.
