On September 22, 1931 he married Mary Ellen Homiston Fahje, at Bowbells, North Dakota. Following their marriage, they farmed in the Coulee, Kenmare and Norma area. In 1941, they purchased the Homiston farm at Bowbells. In 1947 they moved into Kenmare, but he continued to farm until his retirement in 1971. Mary Ellen died on July 20, 1985.
He married Anne Benest on June 18, 1988, in Minot, ND. They lived in Kenmare, and Anne preceded him in Death April 17, 1991.
He was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, and the Kenmare Senior Citizens, both Kenmare, ND. Tony loved to play pool and play cards, and he loved horses.
