Richard Lewallen was the son of Daniel Alexander Lewellen & Mary Burkes (uncertain if her last name was Burkes)? of VA.

This can be proven from:
THE WILL OF DANIEL LEWELLIN - PRINCE EDWARD COUNTY, VIRGINIA
Dated February 28, 1785 - Proved July 18, 1785

To wife: MARY
To son: RICHARD
Executor: SON RICHARD LEWELLEN
Witnessess: Edmond Dayzell [sic] Todd, Zachariah Rice, John Vaughn.

Daniel Lewelling, date Feb 28, 1785. Estate to wife Mary during her life. At her death land & plantation to son RICHARD. Wife at liberty to give any of estate except land & plantation during her life or in her will to children or grandchildren who most need it.
Proved in court July 18, 1785. Richard Lewelling exec.
Witness, Edmond Daysill Ford, Azcharriah Rich, John Vaughn.

I feel certain that RICHARD LEWALLEN who settled in Anderson Co, TN is the son of DANIEL LEWELLING & MARY. By naming his son Richard executor of his estate, tells us that this RICHARD was at least 18 years of age at the time of the writing of the will. RICHARD LEWALLEN was born Abt 1763 in Prince Edward County, Virginia. His age at the writing of the will, would have made him about 23 years old.
It "DEFINITELY" appears that RICHARD LEWALLEN, appointed EXECUTOR in DANIEL LEWELLING'S WILL, February 28, 1785, and the one that settled in Anderson Co, TN are one and the same!

RICHARD LEWALLEN was born in Prince Edward Co, VA in 1763. (PRINCE EDWARD COUNTY was formed from Amelia in 1753.) (Prince Edward County is in south-central Virginia. It's county seat, is Farmville.) He served in the Revolutionary War for two/three month's enlistments, April 1781 through June 1781 & September 1781 through November 1781. He volunteered in Prince Edward Co, VA where he lived at that time. He fought in the Battle of Yorktown against Cornwallace. Richard filed for his pension August 29, 1832 in Anderson Co, TN. He died less than one year later, May 8, 1833.

It hard for me to be specific exactly where the Lewallen/Luallen cemetery is located as Richard Lewallen died May 08, 1833 Anderson Co, TN.

As depicted in the "Longfield Baptist Church Minutes 1831-1981" somewhere in Anderson Co, TN there is a Lewallen/Luallen Graveyard.

Maybe this explains the untraceable Lewallen graves?

My reasoning for using the spelling of Lewallen with an A is because I feel many of the Lewallen's/Lewellen's/Luallen names have been lost. In many instances the Lew & Lu was dropped in census records & the name became ALLEN.
