Born to William J. and Lydia K. (Holweger) Hoeger, Carol was baptized and confirmed in her faith at Evanger Lutheran Church. She married Victor J. Matson on July 22, 1961, and together they raised a family and shared many joys and sorrows. She became a widow on June 14, 1991. Carol worked for GFPS as a foodservice worker for over 20 years, most of them at Red River High School. She loved her family & friends, her church, and her bunco group. On July 16, 2006, by very generous donation, she was given the gift of extended life with a double lung transplant. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, a son, and a daughter.
