CDR Charles (Mac) A. McFee USN. Ret. passed away at his home on Friday, June 3, 2016, after a long illness.

He was born on July 1, 1929, in Candler, NC, son of Lennie and Ida Mae (Jackson) McFee.

Enlisting in the U.S. Navy in 1947, he served his country for 32 years, earning several decorations including the Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy Commendation Medal with Combat “V”, Combat Action Ribbon and Vietnam Service Medal with 3 Bronze Stars.

He is survived by his wife Joanne of 32 years, one daughter Cathy McFee Boeker (John ) of Las Cruces, NM, four sons, Richard A. McFee (Mary) of Callaway, VA, Michael A. McFee , of Beaufort,SC, Matthew C. McFee (Jared) of Cincinnati, OH, Robert McFee (Sam) of Beaufort, SC, and beloved Daughter in Law, Carole C. McFee (Gary ) of Greensboro, NC. Also he leaves grandchildren: Claire Penna George of Fort Worth, TX, Joseph Penna (Jessica) of Little Elm, TX, Charles McFee (Alison) of Raleigh, NC, Eric McFee (Kristen), of St. Charles, IL, and Logan McFee of Beaufort, SC.

He leaves one sister, Goree Wilson of Candler, NC, two brothers, Jake McFee (Anne) of Denver, NC, and Joe McFee (Barbara) of Burnsville, NC, and four great- grandchildren.

He is predeceased by his first wife, Claire Haigh McFee, daughter Patricia McFee Penna (Joe), sisters Sarah McFee James, Celia McFee Singleton and brother William McFee.

In his retirement Mac was an accomplished carpenter, fisherman and gardener, of quiet honor and integrity, a steadfast and loyal husband and father. He touched many peoples’ lives and will be greatly missed by all.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM on Wednesday, June 8, at Anderson Funeral Home.

Graveside services will be held at 11am, Thursday, June 9, at the Beaufort National Cemetery.
