Richard Eugene Denker passed away May 19, 2016 at the age of 73 in Meridian, ID. Richard passed after a long bout with Muscular Dystrophy. Rich was born to parents John and Cleora Denker in Eugene, OR on Sept. 15th, 1942.
Rich grew up with his siblings Jim and Pam in Crow, OR. Rich was an all-star athlete at Crow High School lettering in football, basketball, baseball, and track and field. He graduated from Crow High School in 1960 with honors. He graduated from Oregon State University in 1964 earning a Bachelor's of Science in Business with a minor in Forestry. Rich worked for the U.S. Forest Service his entire career, retiring as the Chief Contracting Officer in 2002. He then worked as a consultant for National Mobile Shower and Catering Association until 2008. Rich and Linda were high school sweethearts and after exploring life, married in August, 1994.
Rich was a master outdoorsman who especially enjoyed elk hunting, bird hunting, fishing, and training German Shorthaired Pointers. Rich was a lifetime member of the German Shorthaired Pointers Club of Idaho and won the Amateur Field Champion and Field Champion with EdLou's We-Be-Jamn. Rich was also a lifetime member of the Southwest Idaho Tennessee Walking Horse Club. Rich was an integral part in supporting his wife and horse Harddrive to two overall Grand Championships in both English and Western styles. Rich was a passionate sports fan and loved watching the Seattle Mariners, Oregon State Beavers, Oregon Ducks, Duke Blue Devils, and Boise State Broncos (as long as they were winning). Rich also liked riding horses, reloading ammunition, and home brewing beer.
Rich is survived by his wife, Linda Meng-Denker, step-daughters: Lynette Meng, Shannon (Gary) Winters, and his son, Jeff (Erin) Denker. Rich had six grandchildren: Greg, Aubree, Cole, Jace, Cooper, and Kaden who he loved to cheer for at their various sporting events. He is also survived by two siblings: Jim Denker and Pam Marsh (both whom he cherished greatly) and their children: Chris Denker, Heather Notenboom, Jim Marsh, and Brandon Marsh.
A memorial celebration will be held on June 4, 2016 from 2pm - 6pm at Rich and Linda's home for anyone who would like to share memories of Rich.
