Darold T. Ayers
Darold T. Ayers, 57, of 1690 Sixteenth street NW died in Iowa City Tuesday after a short illness. Born Dec. 29, 1912 at Kalona, he had lived in Cedar Rapids about 12 years.
He was married to Nellie Peyton Dec. 3, 1934, at Independence. A member of First Methodist church and the American Legion, he was a veteran of World war II and had been employed by Montgomery Ward and Co.
Surviving in addition to his wife are four daughters, Mrs. James Henderson and Darlene Eiler, both of Marion; Mrs. Joseph Dumond, Palo, and Angeline Ayers, at home; three sons, IC 1-C Darold Ayers, aboard the USS Forester, and Clifford and Douglas Ayers, both at home, his mother, Mrs. Virgil Lewis, Robinson; three brothers, Harold Ayers, Robinson; Cecil Ayers, California, and Everett Ayers, Arizona; two sisters, Mrs. C.M. Goodwin, and Mrs. Roy Brewer, both of Muscatine, and seven grandchildren.
Services: Teahen chapel at 1:30 p.m. Saturday by the Rev. Lloyd C Kellams of Marion First Methodist church. Burial Cedar Memorial cemetery with military services at the grave. Friends may call at the Teahen chapel Thursday evening and Friday after 3:30 p.m.
