Son of Harry and Vada Moody, JR served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a paratrooper and intelligence and reconnaissance chief. He was an executive with Boeing for 37 years, retiring in 1992 and moving to Whidbey Island.

The 18th of November, 1989 he married Marilyn Jo Britt in King County. He was survived by his children, Steve Moody of Everett, Jayne Misko of Clinton and Cindy Byrd of Monroe. He was survived also by his siblings, Fred Moody of Springfield, Missouri, Aleene Wynn of Hartville, Missouri, Geneva Crowder of Aurora, Colorado, Beverly Hensley of Madison Heights, Michigan and Barbara Johns, Sue Johns and Peggy Mayab, all of Springfield, Missouri.
