WILLIAM KAUFMANN

MISHICOT MAN IS TRAMPLED TO DEATH
WM. KAUFMAN (sic) IS KILLED UNDER HORSES' HOOFS
Two accidents, one of which proved fatal and the second of which may result
in death of the victim marked the week end at Mishicot.
To meet death under the hoofs of a frightened team of horses was the fate of
William Kaufman, Mishicot man, at that village Sturday afternon (sic). The
starting of a tractor which they had been hauling only a few minutes before
was the cause of the team's action and Kaufman, who was holding the pair by
the head, was trampled to death before other men at the scene could realize
what had happened. The funeral will be held tomorrow morning at Mishicot with
services at 10 o'clock at Holy Cross Catholic church and burial will be at the
church cemetery.
Kaufman had hitched the team, which was owned by Nic Scheuer, by whom he was
employed, to the tractor in an effort to start the motor. The team had been
unhooked and led away when the tractor motor suddenly started in response to
efforts. The horses reared and one of them struck kaufman (sic) on the head
with his hoof, felling him to the ground where he was trampled to instant
death by the frightened animals. The accident occurred at 4 o'clock.

shop and a farm. Surviving are two daughters, Violet and Clara, two brothers,
