Richard L. "Tim" Sheetz, 90, of the 2500 block of Murray Ave., died May 16, 1997, in his residence.

A retired executive director for The United Fund, he was a Macon, Mo., native and the widower of Aagot V. Sheetz. From 1943-71, he was executive director of the Norfolk United Community Fund. From 1971-86, he was founder and director of the Norfolk Foundation. He was a graduate of Westminster College in 1928 and a member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity there. He was a member of Virginia Club and still holds track records from Westminster College. He was named Mr. Citizen of his generation Norfolk Union Labor Council 1971. He was a recipient of a citation for Out- standing Service to the city of Norfolk in 1970.

Survivors include his daughters, Susan Laitsch of Alexandria, Va., Geral- dine Beck of Virginia Beach and Ferne Holmes of Cottonwood, Ariz.; son, Timothy R. Sheetz of Virginia Beach; six grandchildren, Daniel, Michael, Jeffrey, Christine, Brooke and Elizabeth; a great-granddaughter, L Katherine. He was predeceased by two sons, Robert K. Sheetz and Harold S. Austin.

A graveside funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Rosewood Memorial Park by Dr. James G. Cobb. The family will receive friends in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the United Way.
