John Walter Switzer, Jr., age 94, of Cynthiana, Kentucky, died Monday May 13, 2013, at Cedar Ridge Health Campus, in Cynthiana. He was born in Harrison County, Kentucky, on June 13, 1918, a son of the late John Walter Switzer, Sr., and Mary Frances "May Fan" Wiglesworth Switzer. Mr. Switzer was a farmer, businessman and former owner of Harrison Tobacco Warehouse and Edgemont Manor Nursing Home. He was a member and trustee of the Cynthiana Baptist Church and a member and past Exalted Ruler of Cynthiana Elks Lodge #438.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Rees Ashcraft Switzer, on May 17, 2004. Survivors include: his son, John Walter "Buddy" Switzer, III, and his wife Kim; his grandchildren, Codie Switzer and Sadie Mae Switzer; special friends, Al and Carol Martig; and several close cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 16, in the Battle Grove Cemetery Meditation Building. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Thursday at Drake-Whaley-McCarty Funeral Home.
