Pam was an active member of Courthouse Community United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School and was a member of the church's Rainbow Ringers Bell Choir. She also enjoyed being involved in church mission work and was a Girl Scout leader for many years. Pam also enjoyed the Washington Redskins and ACC basketball; however, her greatest joys were her grandchildren.
She is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Charles Morton; children, Joanna Whitehead and husband Dwayne of Virginia Beach, Christina Dunavan and husband Michael of Virginia Beach, Matthew Morton and wife Candice of Knightdale, N.C.; grandchildren, Sam, Zach, Sarah, Jayson, Daren, and Mackenzie Ann; siblings, Joseph Sanders and wife Sherry of Drexel Hill, Pa., John W. Sanders of Columbia, S.C., Reed Johnston and wife Betty of Waco, Texas, Patricia Smith and husband Russell of Olney, Md.; her stepmother, Mary Helen Sanders of Broomall, Pa.; a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. She will be greatly missed.
The family would like to thank Dr. Barbara Gelpi and the Kidney Transplant Team at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital for allowing her to extend her life for the last 8 years. As Pam said, "This has been my dessert!"
A celebration of life service will be Friday, Oct. 16, at 4 p.m. at Courthouse Community United Methodist Church, 2708 Princess Anne Road, Virginia Beach, with the Rev. Frances T. Cooper officiating. Following the service, the family will receive friends in the Family Life Center for a reception.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Courthouse Community United Methodist Church Memorial Fund. Altmeyer Funeral Home, Maestas Chapel, is handling the arrangements.
