Daughter of John and Adeline Semler and sister of Henry W., Robert S. and Frances J. Semler, her first husband's name was Bucholtz. Dorothy Bucholtz married William C. Owens July 2, 1960 in Island County.

Dorothy Owens came to Whidbey Island from Chicago in 1953. She worked at NAS Whidbey in the supply department and later at the naval hospital as a fiscal clerk in supply. She had retired shortly before her death.

She was survived by her husband, William C. Owens and their children, William Owens of Oak Harbor, John S. Owens of Incline Village, Nevada and Joan Owens, at college in Pullman. Other survivors are her sister, Mrs. Francis Turnbull of Oak Harbor and her brother, Henry Semler of Snohomish.
