Leona Sanders, beloved mother and grandmother, 88, Bethany, joined her husband of 68 years, Steve, in heaven on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at her home.
She was born April 14, 1924 in Bethany, Missouri, the daughter of Orville Jay and Mable (Wheeler) Darby.
On January 26, 1944, she married Stephen L. Sanders in Norfolk, Virginia. He preceded her in death on January 31, 2012. She also was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers, Orville and Bill Darby; and son-in-law, Paul Beydler.
Leona was a member of the First Christian Church of Bethany, MO and the VFW Ladies Auxillary. She loved cooking and taking care of her family
Survivors include daughters, Stephenie Beydler, Grant City, MO and Cathy Coble, Ft. Worth, TX; half-brother, Robert Darby, Spickard, MO; son-in-law, Ron and Sandy Runyan, Bethany, MO; grandchildren, Ronnette (Roger) Sherman, Gallatin, MO, Reggie Runyan, Martinsville, MO, Sabrina (Dustin) Ellis, Bethany, MO, Stephen Totten, Daniel Totten and Morgan Totten and Hannah Coble all of Ft. Worth, TX; great grandchildren, Coltin and Callie Smith, Albany, MO, Riley Hagan, Gallatin, MO, Torrie Runyan, Albany, MO, Izabella Leona Ellis, Bethany, MO and special dogs, Copper and Chol-bear.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 28, at the Roberson Funeral Home, Bethany, MO. Burial in Kidwell Cemetery, Martinsville, Missouri. The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home where friends may call after 1:00 p.m Wednesday.
