Actress, Author. Best remembered for playing 'Lenore' in the Oscar-garnered "Raging Bull" (1980) and as 'Rachel Scali' in the TV series "The Commish" (1991 to 1996). She survived a brutal knife attack by a deranged fan which nearly killed her in 1982. The incident was recounted by her in the TV-Movie "Victims for Victims": The Theresa Saldana Story" (1984). Born in Brooklyn, she began her professional career with a small part in the off-Broadway production "A Musical Merchant of Venice" (1975). Her stage work led to her motion picture debut with a substantial role in "I Wanna Hold Your Hand" (1978), followed by "Nunzio" (1978) and "Defiance" (1980) prior to her casting in "Raging Bull". She received a Golden Globe Award nomination for "The Commish" in 1994. In addition to acting she authored several books as a result of her horrific attack which include "Beyond Survival" (1986). She died of complications from pneumonia.
