Carolyn Lewis Bird returned home to her loving Heavenly Father on June 4, 2016 after fighting a valiant battle for years with her health. Carolyn was born February 19, 1938 to Eldon Warren Lewis and Effie LaVern Sprouse in Paris Idaho. She was the 2nd daughter of 4 girls. Carolyn grew up and attended schools in Paris, and graduated from Fielding High School. Carolyn met the love of her life, Dennis LaRay Bird at a dance, from which a courtship was formed lasting 60 loving years. During her senior year Carolyn married Dennis on February 8, 1956 in the Logan Temple.

Carolyn left the luxuries of indoor plumbing and running water to help Dennis farm in Dingle, where they have resided since. Carolyn and Dennis were blessed with 4 wonderful children. Eldon Dennis, Donald LaRay, Effie Janeene and Denice Gillies. She loved and supported her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren in all their activities. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Carolyn was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She served faithfully in many organizations of the church from playing the piano to serving a mission with her husband at the Bishops store house and as an ordinance worker at the Logan Utah temple and was currently serving as a Visiting Teacher Coordinator in the Dingle Ward.

Carolyn had a beauty shop located in the back of her home. She was able to work from home and still care for her children. She later went to work for First Security Bank where she became the Operation Supervisor and remained at the bank until she retired. Carolyn made several acquaintances and friends throughout the years which she held dear to her heart.

“Pulling Together” has always been Dennis and Carolyn’s family motto. She was always found working alongside her husband whether it be milking cows, raking and hauling hay, or going with Dennis on late night trouble calls for the power company. They have left a legacy to their children and grandchildren to appreciate the value of hard work and having fun while doing it. She was always taking her kids and grandkids to 4-H clubs, ball games, scouts and piano lessons. She was involved with their lives attending as many activities as she could, even being a great cheerleader. Carolyn was a hard worker, very compassionate, and enjoyed serving others. Even on the last day of her earthly life she was still serving.

Carolyn was a master of the kitchen. Everyone enjoyed her treats, the cupboards and drawers of her home were always full. She loved holidays and parties. Her greatest joy and happiness was having her entire family together, especially at the holiday season. She loved sewing, family history and kept an immaculate house.

Carolyn is survived and will be dearly missed by her loving husband Dennis Bird of Dingle. Her children, Eldon (Vicki) Bird of Dingle, Don (Cheryl) Bird of Mud Lake, Janeene (Carson) Price of Montpelier, Denice (Glen ) Gillies of Dingle Idaho. Her sisters Larna (Wayne) Humphrey of Paris and Carla (Jerry) Williams of Pocatello. Carolyn’s life is a tribute to her 18 Grandchildren and 35 Great Grandchildren.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents Eldon and LaVern Lewis. Her mother and father in-law, Roy and Natalea Bird and her sister ElDean Ryer.
