Edward J. Halla, age 84 of the village of Mishicot, died unexpectedly Monday, May 16, 1994 at the Holy Family Memorial Medical Center.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 20, 1994, at Lambert Funeral Home, Mishicot. Officiating will be Rev. William Zimmer and Rev. Richard Lind. Burial will follow in Mishicot Public Cemetery.
He was born March 13, 1910, in the town of Two Creeks, son of the late Anton and Tillie Riha Halla. He attended Twin Elder School and graduated from Washington High School, Two Rviers with the class of 1926. He married the former Irene Lukes on September 6, 1933, at Waukegan, Ill. He was employed as a Road Superintendent by the town of Mishicot until his retirement. Ed was very involved in community activities through the years. He was a member of the Twin Elder School Baord and Mishicot Public Schools Board of Education. He also served on the Mishicot Village Board for many years. Ed was a founding officer of the Mishicot Development Corporation, a past president and life member of the Mishicot Lions Club, a 43 year member of the Mishicot Fire Department and a long time member of the Mishicot Sportsmen's Club. He also served on the Federal Grand Jury and was on the Board of Directors of Shady Lane Home in Manitowoc.
Survivors include his wife, Irene; a son, Myron (Anne) Halla, and daughter, Arlene (Daniel) Schuster, both of Manitowoc; three grandsons, Michael (Katherine) Halla, Manitowoc, Thomas (Sandra) Halla, Dixon, Ill., Jonathan Schuster, Manitowoc; a great grandchild, Elisa Halla, Manitowoc. He is further survived by a sister, Lucy Swade, rural Two Rivers, a brother, Allan (Dolores) Halla, of Manitowoc and nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-laws.
Friends may call at the Lambert Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday and at the funeral home prior to the service on Friday.
