He was born on Sept. 14, 1953, in Walton County, Fla., to Benjamin and Annie Ruth Mathews Schofield. Mr. Schofield was a lifelong resident of Walton County. He was Baptist by faith. He was a very talented carpenter who enjoyed woodworking. He loved children.
Mr. Schofield was predeceased by his mother, Annie Ruth Schofield; and two brothers, Willard and Horace Schofield.
Mr. Schofield is survived by his father, Ben Schofield of Gaskin; one son, Leslie Matthew Schofield and wife Elaine of DeFuniak Springs; one daughter, Sonia Schofield Lindsey and husband Michael of Freeport, Fla.; six brothers, Clifford Schofield and wife Peggy of DeFuniak Springs, David Schofield and wife Brenda, Ben Schofield, Richard Schofield and wife Voncile, all of Gaskin, Don Schofield and wife Joan of Pensacola Fla., and Fred Schofield and wife Roberta of Dothan, Ala.; and four grandchildren, Kirk Schofield, Chelsea Schofield, Levi Schofield and Hannah Umble.
A time of visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel, 230 Park Ave., DeFuniak Springs.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, at Gaskin Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Larry Sweat officiating.
Floral arrangements are being accepted.
