Religious Leader. Born in the small town of Farmersville, Louisiana "V.E." moved to Powen, Texas in 1931, to begin a preaching career that spanned over sixty years but he is best known as the "Dean of Radio Preachers". A pioneer in radio broadcasting he founded the "International Gospel Hour" and preached on the show for forty-six years. The program is still aired and is recognized as the longest continuous religious radio broadcast in radio history. He was also a prolific writer having authored over fifteen religious books including his famous "Are you Listening?" series. He also wrote several hymns and published a hymnal. A member of the churches of Christ, the evangelist died in Texarkana, Texas.
