Jane Edgar, 99, of Mattoon, formerly of Arcola, died at 8:10 a.m. Friday (June 3, 2016) at Odd Fellow-Rebekah Home in Mattoon.
Jane was born December 16, 1916 in Salem, the daughter of Roy and Grace Smith. She married Morris L. Edgar in Lafayette, Indiana in 1954; he preceded her in death in 1965.
She is survived by sons, Mark L. (Julie) Edgar and Timothy C. Edgar; two grandchildren; three nephews and several cousins.
She was also preceded in death by her brother, James Smith.
Jane graduated from Eastern Illinois Teachers College and taught elementary school for 35 years, starting in Rardin and finishing in the Mattoon School Systems. She was a member of the Illinois Retired Teachers Association and the Mattoon Moose Club.
