Joseph Tharp, Jr., 87, went home to be with the Lord on June 4, 2016. He was a native of Chipley, FL. and had lived in this area most of his life.
He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, working in his garden and running and raising his walker hound dogs. He was retired from Talquin Electric Company after more than 30 years of service as a mechanic.
He was preceded in death by his wife of more 67 years, Delores Smith Tharp, his mother, Willie Golden Tharp, his father, Joseph William Tharp; a sister, Inez Mae Gillbert, and brothers, James Marshall and David Roosevelt Tharp.
Joseph is survived by his three daughters, Cathy Hattaway and her husband Allen, Debbie Dewires and her husband John and Lesa Armstrong and her husband Morton; a sister, Francis Virginia Whigham, 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday June 8, 2016 at Bevis Funeral Home-Bristol Chapel. The interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Quincy, FL. Todd Wahlquist with Bevis Funeral Home is assisting the family with their arrangements. 850-643-3636, www.bevisfh.com
