The Rev. Grady C. Barnett, 93, of Laurel, died Thursday, Sept. 14, 2006, at Comfort Care Nursing Home in Laurel.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, at Memory Chapel Funeral Home in Laurel, with burial in Mill Creek Cemetery in Jones County. The Rev. Phil Smith will officiate.
A retired minister and a carpenter, he served in the United States Navy during World War II. He served several churches in the surrounding areas and served as a missionary for 15 years with Hispanics in Texas and Mexico. He was a member of Lake Congregational Methodist Church in Laurel.
He is survived by his wife, Earline Doggette Barnett of Laurel; two daughters, Elena Gonzalez-Castillo of Grand Prairie, Texas, and Lori Barnett Mills of Mesquite, Texas; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Saturday, at Memory Chapel Funeral Home in Laurel, which is in charge of arrangements
