CAUDLE, Robert Keith "Big Daddy," passed away in his home on Sunday, June 5, 2016, and went to be with his wife of 61 years, Ruby Scott Caudle. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Eunice Caudle; his sister, Lavinia; and brother, Roy Jr. He was a member of Woodland Heights Baptist Church and a graduate of John Marshall High School, where he was captain of the varsity tennis team. He attended the Smithdeal Massey School of Business Administration, after which he managed the Colonial Theater on Broad Street for four years. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army for four years stationed at Fort Story, Virginia, where he served as entertainment director in Special Services and managed two War Department theaters. After the war, he attended the Byers F. Miller School of Business Administration at the University of Richmond. He worked for Esso Standard Oil Company (now Exxon Mobil) for 19 years, where he served as credit officer. During that time, he was president of the Employees Association, and was president of the Westhampton Playground Association for 23 years. He retired in 1980 after 21 years as an official with U.S. Small Business Administration. He was an avid hunter, a charter member of the Camptown Hunt Club and a daily hunter with his friend Curtis Belvin. He was also a seasonal fisherman at his summer home on Stingray Point. Surviving are his son, Robert Keith Caudle Jr. and his wife, Ann Roberts Caudle; grandsons, Robert Keith Caudle III and wife, Letitia Jacobs Caudle, William Angier Scott Caudle and wife, Leanne Yanni; five great-grandchildren, Jane, Lida, Henry, Lucy, Casey; sister-in-law, Ellen Scott; and many nieces and nephews. The family thanks Simmons Premium Homecare and Bon Secours Hospice who took excellent care of Keith. The family will be receiving friends and family from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Avenue. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 8, in the Mausoleum Chapel of Westhampton Memorial Park.
