William Hanley was born on May 29, 1907 to William F Hanley and Mary Elizabeth (Morris) Hanley. William married Mary Louise Timmons on July 12, 1928 in Monmouth, Illinois. He was the 3rd of 19 children. William enlisted in the U. S. Navy Reserve on December 14, 1943

His Cause of Death was a car crash on Route 150 in Knox County, Illinois between Williamsfield and Dahinda Corners, a mile east of Spoon River Bridge.

He was preceded in death by his father, William F Hanley, sister, Mary Agnes Hanley, and son, James Hanley. William was survived by his mother, Mary Elizabeth Hanley, his wife, Mary Louise Hanley, children William Chapman Jr, William J, Mary Louise, Donald Eugene, Helen D, & Larry Dean Hanley, numerous brothers, sisters, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

William was buried in the Monmouth Cemetery in Monmouth, Warren County, Illinois.
