DONNA KAY SMITH GREER, resident of the Bethlehem Community in Fayette County, former Radiological Technician and wife of Garland E. Greer died at the St. Francis Hospital in Germantown where she had been a patient for 23 days. She was 66 years of age and died following an extended illness.

A Celebration of Life Service for Mrs. Greer was conducted at 11 A.M. Thursday, October 28th at the Graveside. The officiating ministers were Rev. Ann Bledsoe of the Lafferty Methodist Circuit and Bro. Clint Riggan of Little Rock, Arkansas. Interment followed in the Hebron Cemetery of the Bethlehem Community. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes—Main Chapel of Somerville.

A native of Memphis, Tennessee, Mrs. Greer was born October 23, 1944. She was preceded in death by her parents Mellie Quay Newman Smith and J. A. Smith. She received her education in the Lamarque, Texas Public School System and received her radiology training from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston.

Mrs. Greer was a member of the Church of Christ and a resident of the Bethlehem Community for the past 32 years. She has a great love for her family and friends and will be remembered for her quick wit, unwavering faith and a huge heart. Her entire life consisted of making other happy and she never met a stranger. Mrs. Greer’s love, generosity and concern for others were evident in all aspects of her life.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Greer is survived by her son, Eric Garland Greer (Kathy) of the Bethlehem Community and her two precious granddaughters, Kelly and Sarah Kate Greer.

Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Donnie Graves, Glenn Newman, Ronnie Newman, Danny Pattat, Steve Pattat and Michael Tapp.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the church, charity or organization of the donor’s choice.
