Obituary for Beverly June Woodruff
In Memoriam
Beverly June (Dugan) Woodruff
10/18/1937 – 04/27/2016

Our Mother left this world on Wednesday morning, April 27, 2016, at the age of 78. Beverly was born on October 18, 1937 to Samuel Ross Dugan (7/31/1914 – 03/30/1986) and Olive Eleanor (Jeffers) Dugan (05/19/1919 – 09/29/1994) in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She was the oldest of three daughters and is survived by her sisters, Patricia Ann Dugan (Holmer) and Janice Marie Dugan (La Fraugh Ahrens) both live in Cashmere, WA. Beverly was married in 1956 to Vernon LeRoy Woodruff and is survived by her ex-husband and their four children, June Lea Woodruff (Parker), Paula Rachel Woodruff (Rivello), Daniel Vernon Samuel Edwin Woodruff, Sue Lyn Woodruff, and her nine grandchildren, Jonathan Thomas Parker, Samuel John Rivello (Stevie Nichole (Lippen) Rivello), Joshua James Parker, Lauren Elizabeth Parker, Ian Scott Woodruff (Christina (Crabtree) Woodruff), Cody Edwin Woodruff, Shelby Rose Woodruff, Edward Wolfgang Auer, and Freya Lyn Auer.

The Jeffers and Dugan family moved to California in the 1950’s from their home in Iowa. Beverly was from a large and close-knit family. She had 9 aunts, 4 uncles, 72 cousins, 4 nieces, and 2 nephews. Her family has been traced back to ancestors who fought in the American Revolutionary War, the Civil War, and documented to have arrived aboard the Mayflower with the first settlers (Richard Warren, Mary Chilton) in the colonies in 1690. Her lineage has been traced all the way back to 16th century England (Edward Walderne) and, on her father’s side, back to Princess Mary Stewart, daughter of King Robert III of Scotland, and as far back as 13th century Scotland.

As a young girl, she loved taking dance lessons with her sisters and sang in the A cappella choir when she attended Narbonne High School in Lomita, CA (graduate, 1956). She was a talented artist, seamstress, and poet. She was involved in Girl Scouts of America when her girls were young and enjoyed being a homemaker, cooking, camping, family picnics, and cherished her family and time spent together. Beverly raised her children while working in the agricultural industry for over 13 years. She was a long time resident of Lomita, CA and spent time living in Cabazon, CA, Lake Arrowhead, CA, and Cashmere, WA.

Beverly was a kind, generous soul and a big character with a bright smile and a big laugh. She loved a spirited card game, a good joke or long story, and rock & roll music and dancing of the ‘50’s. She was a fan of Englebert Humperdinck, Tom Jones, Johnny Cash, Neil Diamond, Rod Stewart, Marty Robbins, Credence Clearwater, Ike & Tina Turner, gospel music, and was known to break out in song or dance at the drop of a hat. One of her favorite things was to invite musically talented friends and family over for a “jam session” at her home. She loved everyone and left a big impression on anyone she met. If Beverly had $15 dollars in her wallet, she would give you $10 and the shirt off her back; she was that sweet and kind person. If someone was in need or going through a rough spot in life, she would be there for them giving anything she had to help. It was not unusual for her to take people into her home to help them out. No matter what challenges she faced in life, she would just roll with it and always be the same smiling and joyful spirit.

Beverly will be greatly missed by her family and friends and will always be lovingly remembered as a special person in their lives and a beautiful soul. Her bright light will shine on in our hearts forever.

A private Celebration of Life memorial will be hosted by her children and family the first weekend in June in Lomita, Ca
