Betty J. Elson, 86, of Grants, passed away in Grants on the evening of Friday, Oct. 27, 2006, following an illness.
She was born on April 30, 1920, in Bend, Ore., to Glenn Warren Mallery and Etta Mabel Hickman-Mallery.
Ms. Elson married her husband Robert Benjamin Elson on Nov. 15, 1938. She moved to Grants from Willcox, Ariz., where she and her husband had owned a grocery store, in 2000.
Ms. Elson is survived by her daughters Vicki Crawford and husband Gary of Grants and Terri Malaska and husband Ted of Portland, Ore.; her five grandchildren Karl Ahlheim and wife Dolores of San Antonio, Texas, Eric Ahlheim and wife Julie of Grants, Mallery McCracken of Grants, Makenzie Malaska of Queens, N.Y., and Elizabeth Malaska of Oakland, Calif.; her five great-grandchildren Monique Ahlheim of San Antonio, Texas, Michael Ahlheim of San Antonio, Texas, Nickolas Ahlheim of San Antonio, Texas, Tracy Ahlheim of Grants and Justin Ahlheim of Grants.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years Robert B. Elson in 1981 and by her parents Glenn Warren Mallery and Etta Mabel Hickman-Mallery.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2006, at Sunset Cemetery in Willcox, Ariz. Pallbearers will include family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be her great-grandsons Michael Ahlheim, Nickolas Ahlheim, Tracy Ahlheim and Justin Ahlheim.
