JOHN J. GORRIE DIED SUDDENLY, MAY 16.
Mr. John J. Gorrie died quite suddenly at his residence, Waddell street, at the age of 64 years and eight months. Mr. Gorrie's death was quite unexpected; he had always enjoyed good health, and only for a few days previous to his death did he complain of any illness, except of slight rheumatic pains. The deceased was a highly respected citizen, and had a large circle of friends and acquaintances in Truro and vicinity. In his immediate family are four bereaved children, two sons, Edmund Gorrie, Boston; C.C. Gorrie, Truro; Mrs. F.B. Tully, Truro and Mrs Laurie Woodworth, Portsmouth, N.H. Three brothers, William, Gordon and Archibald Gorrie, all in the West; two sisters, Mrs. James Fisher, and Mrs L. Grindle, Boston, are also left to mourn the loss of a kind and affectionate brother. The sons and daughters of this family, only a few weeks ago, were called together to attend the funeral of their mother; and now that they again are summoned on a similar sad occasion, makes their bereavement doubly hard to bear. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, 18th at two o'clock at the late home, Waddell street. Rev. Archdeacon Kaulback will officiate.
